Kenyan insurtech Lami Technologies partners with Sendy to launch in transit insurance

This partnership will enable Kenyans to access simple, hassle-free, and affordable insurance products that are customised on a per-trip basis

Lami Technologies, a Kenyan-based insurtech company has partnered with Sendy Limited, a tech-logistics company to enable transporters in Kenya to access simple, hassle-free, and affordable insurance products customised on a per-trip basis, according to media reports.

This partnership supports the logistic industry by digitising insurance access for transporters, which will protect them against all risks of physical loss or damage from any external cause during transit.

Mesh Alloys, Founder and CEO of Sendy told the media, “Through this collaboration, we will be able to take advantage of the speed and ease of digitalisation while also assisting our transportation partners by adding cutting-edge technology that will enhance efficiency to their service offering. It also allows our transportation partners to take advantage of a low-cost per-trip insurance policy, which is in line with our approach of forming alliances that enable our partners to do more.”

Sendy’s platform helps simplifiy end-to-end logistics for businesses by connecting them to hundreds of transporters online. Transporters allocated a consignment will be required to access Lami’s insurance policies enabling real-time quotation, adjustable carrier liability on a per-trip basis, and faster claims process.

Founded in 2018, Lami is a digital insurance platform that enables partner businesses – including banks, tech companies, and other entities digital insurance products to their users via its API. Lami can also be used by partner businesses to manage their own insurance needs. With the help of its API users can get a quotation for motor, medical, or other tailored insurance products in seconds. Users can also customise the benefits and adjust the premium according to their needs so that they can get their documents almost instantly and the claims are paid in time.

Since 2018, the company has sold more than 5,000 policies. Lami has also partnered with 25 active underwriters including the likes of Britam, Pioneer, and Madison Insurance.
