Google Drive gets amazing widget for Android tablets

Google has begun distributing the redesigned Google Keep widget, which is now located in the bottom bar rather than the sidebar

Google has begun paying close attention to tablets and Android smartphones with larger screens ever since the release of Android 12L.

A number of new Android features, including an update for the Google Drive widget for many Android tablets, were just released by the tech giant.

Google has begun distributing the redesigned Google Keep widget, which is now located in the bottom bar rather than the sidebar. The dual-pane view hasn’t, however, been widely implemented yet.

Google regularly adds shortcuts to open a new document quickly to its ‘Drive Quick Actions’ for Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The latest update is one of several essential enhancements Google has released to make it easier for users to open Drive, upload, search, and activate the camera quickly.

The Google Drive widget will now appear in a circle, giving Material You widgets a new appearance. Google Drive’s new circular widget configuration will be accessible on Android tablets starting with version 2.22.357.1.

The shortcuts introduced by Google in this version will be seen at the bottom of the creation sheet and set up in a 3×2 configuration.

Google previously announced that it had updated its Google Workspace apps for larger screens and given them a fresh new look.

Now, Google is continuing to optimise users’ preferred Google apps for tablets in order to make multitasking a breeze, starting with updated widgets for Google Drive and Google Keep.

“With an updated Google Drive widget, three home screen buttons now offer one-touch access to your Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Sheets files. And in Google Keep, a bigger widget and font size makes note-taking, to-do lists, and reminders easy to access,” Google said.

Google claimed it is also introducing new shared experiences via Google Meet in an effort to bring people closer.

“With live sharing features, you can instantly co-watch YouTube videos and play classic games with up to 100 friends and family members at a time. So even if you are far apart, you can maintain traditions like a movie and game nights. This feature is rolling out to Android phones and tablets,” Google added.
