Twitter edit button: All you need to know

In a fresh tweet published by the Twitter Blue account, Twitter displayed the first altered tweet on the platform

Twitter users have been requesting an edit button for years, and it appears Twitter is finally implementing their request. Twitter acknowledged earlier this year that it was working on a feature allowing users to edit their tweets.

In a fresh tweet published by the Twitter Blue account, Twitter displayed the first altered tweet on the platform. The social media giant changed the tweet after it was published, and it now serves as an example of how users will view and recognise editable tweets.

As you can see, modified tweets will include a tiny icon or badge that will say that the text has changed after Twitter’s official handle originally posted the tweet. In addition, you will be able to view the tweets’ edit histories. Users only need to click or tap on the “Last Edited” line to access the “version history section” to achieve this.

Tweet editing is still not accessible to the general public, and Twitter has previously stated that Twitter Blue users will get the feature first. It will add the capability to a list of premium Twitter Blue members-only features like the ability to undo tweets, ad-free content, and personalised app icons.

Twitter Blue hasn’t yet launched in India. However, if you live outside of India in a region that supports the feature, you can subscribe for USD 4.99 per month.

According to other reports, Twitter is following several applications and services that have recently embraced the trend by bringing films to the platform with a TikTok-like fullscreen layout, including Instagram and YouTube Shorts.
