How Britain is fighting soaring inflation

The cost of a week's worth of car rental has doubled.

According to statistics gathered for BBC News by travel comparison website Ice Travel Group, the cost of a week’s worth of car rental has, on average, more than doubled.

The report also states that average rates for lodging, airport parking and insurance are more compared to what they were in 2019.

The group’s analysis also mentions that the ten most popular locations in June 2019 and 2022 had a comparable average price.

For instance, the cost to rent a car has increased from £220 to roughly £500, though the cost varies depending on the location; Italy and Ireland saw some of the biggest rises.

The figures also show that all-inclusive package vacation offers cost, on average, 17% extra, or £1,000 for a family of 4.

The average cost of bed-and-breakfast lodging increased as well, from £608 to £755. However, prices for these offers vary from one location to another. Egypt, Greece, the US, the United Arab Emirates, and Italy witnessed the highest increase for both types of vacations.

One such case is, Mini Travellers blogger Karen Beddow who too is aware of the holiday cost inflation.

On her recent camping trip to the Netherlands along with her three daughters on Easter, even the basic cost of camp stove dinner was very expensive.

Sharing some interesting tips regarding flight bookings, she advises people to book airport parking or car hire as soon as the tickets are booked. People should never wait until the last minute as the prices go up.

Lastly, always carry food on flights as airport food is very expensive.
