Qatar’s property market registers solid mortgage activity as sales near USD 120 million mark

Property sales in the Gulf nation during the week reached QR430.7 million, while mortgage transactions totalled QR805.42 million

Qatar’s real estate market recorded substantial activity across sales, mortgage and rental transactions during the week of September 13 to 19, 2026, said the market indicators provided by Aqarat (Real Estate Regulatory Authority).

As per the data, property sales in the Gulf nation during the week reached QR430.7 million, while mortgage transactions totalled QR805.42 million. Along with that, 502 lease contracts got registered during the period.

“Property sales were completed through 120 transactions, with the total sales value rising 12.3% week on week. However, the value was 14.9% lower year-on-year, while the number of transactions declined by 12.4% compared with the previous week and 9.8% from the same period a year earlier,” said Aqarat.

“Villas accounted for the largest share of sales value, reaching QR203.5 million, or 49.44% of the total. Land followed with QR178.5 million, representing 43.37%. Residential apartments contributed QR27 million, while other property categories accounted for QR2.6 million,” the authority mentioned.

Several major municipalities contributed significantly to the sales figures. Al Daayen recorded QR137.9 million, representing 40.48% of the sales value. Doha followed with QR105 million, or 30.82%, while Al Rayyan recorded QR97.8 million, equivalent to 28.70%.

Mortgage activity was a massive plus during the week.

As per the Aqarat, the market registered 37 mortgage transactions worth QR805.42 million.

While the mortgage value was down 11.5% year-on-year, it jumped 599.3% compared to the previous week.

The number of mortgage transactions increased 54.2% year-on-year and 184.6% week-on-week.

“Land represented 50.28% of mortgage value, with transactions worth QR446 million. Villas accounted for QR330 million, or 37.20%, while buildings represented QR111 million, or 12.51%,” Aqarat observed.

At QR505 million, capital Doha accounted for the largest share of mortgage value among the listed municipalities, equivalent to 59.27%. Al Rayyan followed with QR205 million, while Al Shamal recorded QR142 million.

The rental market recorded 502 transactions with a total rent value of QR4.76 million.

As per the regulatory body, both indicators were lower than the previous week and the same period in 2025.

Rental value fell 52.3% week-on-week and 74.7% year-on-year, while the number of transactions declined 56.9% week-on-week and 75.2% year-on-year.
