Aerodyne to provide drone-based solutions in Thailand

The joint venture was signed by AI and Robotics Venture and Digital Creation

Malaysia-based drone startup Aerodyne has partnered with AI and Robotics Venture (ARV) and Digital Creation (DC) and launched AeroSky to provide drone-based enterprise solutions across Thailand, according to the media. ARV is a subsidiary of PTT Exploration and Production, petroleum major, and DC is an IT solutions firm.

AeroSky will leverage Aerodyne-integrated drone and software-as-a-service solutions along with DC’s machine learning and monitoring technologies. The venture will provide services to clients in telecommunication, electricity, oil and gas, and other infrastructure-led industries. The clients will get to inspect and monitor the infrastructure better and at low costs.

Aerodyne holds about 34 percent participating interest in AeroSky, while ARV and DC have 33% each. The AeroSky services are currently available to business customers across industries in Thailand.

Kamarul Muhamed, founder and group chief executive officer of Aerodyne, addressed the media and said that Thailand still has an infrastructure deficit when there is a need for infrastructure owners to sustain their operations. It is the right place and time where the joint venture AeroSky comes into play and provides asset management and inspection solutions that are fast, cost-efficient and safer.

DC expressed that the new venture has strong, sustainable competitive advantages in several areas in the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) industry. They look forward to putting their expertise in sales, marketing and localisation of the product into this tri-party venture.

The partnership was signed after Aerodyne raised an undisclosed amount fund to boost its finance for expansions into China, India and Japan. Other investors in the round include North Summit Capital, a Chinese VC firm, Arc Ventures, an Indian investment company and Leave a Nest from Japan.
