The new Google Pixel feature, Take a Message, launched with the Google Pixel 10 series last year, and this AI voicemail service is getting an upgrade.
So far, Take a Message, which enables on-device voicemail with real-time transcriptions, does not permit you to record a personal greeting; instead, it uses Google Assistant to welcome the caller with a bland, machine-like greeting. However, as Android Authority discovered, one of its phones running Google Phone version 217.0.895016164-publicbeta-pixel now allows you to record a personal message.
A new banner on the phone app alerted them to the capability, and then they were able to record a message via Settings > Take a Message > Manage greetings.
Interestingly, you can actually record and save multiple different greetings even though you can only set one as active, but Android Authority has seen code snippets that suggest you might one day be able to assign specific greetings to specific contacts.
For now, though, being able to record greetings at all is a big upgrade. If you have a Google Pixel 6 or newer and you’re running the latest Phone app beta, you might see the feature there, and hopefully, it will roll out to a stable release soon.
Meanwhile, while the Google Pixel 10 is still fresh in our minds, the rumour mill for the Google Pixel 11 series is already spinning at full speed. Tech insiders suggest that Google’s 2026 flagship might do something quite unexpected: beat Apple and Samsung at their own game.
The big news is that the Google Pixel 11 could be the very first phone to use Samsung’s advanced M16 OLED display technology. Usually, Apple or Samsung’s own Galaxy ‘S’ series gets the shiny new panels first, but if these leaks hold water, Google is jumping to the front of the queue, potentially launching before the iPhone 18 Pro.
