The Abu Dhabi International Airport is testing the Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to make the queue process shorter amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The airport told the media, “AI equipped systems can be taught to detect irregular activity or objects and notify the relevant teams to address potential issues swiftly and efficiently. Minimizing queuing at airports is key to safeguarding passenger health and wellbeing and streamlining operations.”
The development comes at a time when global airport authorities and airlines are trying to restore passenger confidence during air travel.
It is reported that the airport in collaboration with ConvergentAI has developed a smart travel system. The system optimises passenger traffic from check-in to immigration and boarding. The trail will embark on its journey with Etihad Airways. The passengers of the airline will be notified about the optimal arriving time at the Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Global airports are already switching to new-generation technologies such as body scanners and biometrics to speed up the queue process. Now these technologies are being used to curb the spread of the infection.
According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the passenger traffic levels have recorded an 88 percent slump compared to a year earlier at Abu Dhabi International Airport, marking the weakest among all global regions.
The global aviation sector will take time to rebound.
