Emirates SkyCargo has resumed operations in its SkyCentral DWC cargo terminal

Dubai -based cargo airline Emirates SkyCargo has rolled out a Covid-19 vaccine cargo hub, media reports said. This move by the airline will be one of the largest distribution missions in its history.

It is reported that the establishment of a dedicated Covid-19 vaccine cargo hub comes at a time when the UAE is gearing up to bolster its logistics sector. The airline has invested fresh capital in new facilities to spur the global distribution of a potential Covid-19 vaccine.

Furthermore, Emirates SkyCargo has resumed operations in its SkyCentral DWC cargo terminal in Southern Dubai. The terminal will serve as the hub for the distribution and storage of the vaccine. The freight sector of the airline has also established a rapid response squad, especially for international partners.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates’ chief executive, told the media, “Dubai is well positioned to serve as a gateway and distribution hub for Covid-19 vaccines to the rest of the world,” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates’ chief executive. We have the infrastructure and logistics connections, and a geographic location that puts markets representing more than two-thirds of the world’s population within an 8-hour flying radius. Setting up a dedicated airside hub for Covid-19 vaccines is a keystone project harnessing our network, reach and competencies to positively impact the lives of people around the world.”

The new vaccine hub will be the largest dedicated airside facility in the world for Covid-19 vaccines. The site will pave the way for international vaccine manufacturers to distribute globally.
