Juniper to equip Telefonica Spain with fourth-gen Input Output Cards

Telefonica Spain has inked a deal with Juniper Networks as part of the latter’s 5G network growth

Telefonica Spain has inked a deal with Juniper Networks as part of the latter’s 5G network growth, media reports said. It is reported that Telefonica Spain will equip the telecom major with a secure mobile backhaul for its growing 5G network.

The deal will see juniper networks provide SRX5800 Services Gateway (SecGW) to Telefonica Spain. Furthermore, the SecGW will assist the company in extending the telco cloud connectivity.

Telefonica Spain CTO Joaquin Mata, told the media, “The rollout of our 5G network delivers an enhanced mobile experience for our customers, as well as new connectivity use cases such as IoT, augmented reality and others. We need to ensure that the network traffic from all connected devices can traverse our network securely without impacting network performance. By leveraging Juniper’s single, low-latency security platform, we can be confident, regardless of scale, that our 5G network will be secure now and into the future.”

The use of SRX virtual and containerized firewalls will help to boost services such as unified threat management, quality of service, large-scale multi-tenancy, network address translation, stateful firewall, intrusion prevention system, VPN, application security and denial of service.

It is reported that Juniper will equip the Spanish telecom major with its fourth generation of Input Output Cards (IOC4). The card offers connectivity options from 10GbE to 100GbE and supports up to 480 Gbps, making it the top-notch product among Juniper’s SRX5000 series line cards portfolio.

The deal is a big achievement for Juniper’s service provider division in terms of sustainability.
