Abu Dhabi Ports takes over MICCO Logistics for undisclosed sum

The acquisition bolsters Abu Dhabi Ports’ capabilities to manage activities such as PO management

Abu Dhabi Ports has expanded its supply chain logistics solutions by taking over MICCO Logistics for an undisclosed sum, media reports said. The acquisition expects to cater to the underserved market segments and end-to-end logistics solutions by providing open opportunities.

The acquisition bolsters Abu Dhabi Ports’ capabilities to manage activities such as PO management; sourcing; custom clearances; storage; international freight handling through projects, commercial and contract logistics; stevedoring, regional and international transportation; order fulfilment and managing solutions with the help of its widespread distribution centres.

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Group CEO, Abu Dhabi Ports, told the media, “The acquisition of MICCO is a critical step in our emirate’s journey to establish itself as a leading hub within the global trade and supply chains. The combined advantage of both organisations means that Abu Dhabi Ports will be able to compete on the regional and global stage as a provider of holistic logistics solutions, enhancing what we offer to both existing and prospective customers, while at the same time furthering our contribution to Abu Dhabi’s non-oil GDP and the government’s diversification efforts.”

MICCO has over 350 movers with a diversified fleet of trailers, specialised storage facilities. The company’s portfolio of logistics solutions includes warehousing and distribution; contract and commercial logistics, road fleeter services for the aviation sector and multi-modal transport.

The company is the first logistics company to establish a presence in the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD).

The logistics industry like any other sector has been hampered by the pandemic but it has shown some sign of recovery after lockdown relaxations.
