Scottish startup Boundary to roll out smart-home alarm

The new alarm system is compatible with smart homes systems such as Google Homes and Alexa and also can be integrated with other systems as well

Edinburg-based home security tech startup Boundary seeks to roll out a new smart-home alarm later this year. The startup has developed the system to solve complex problems faced by traditional alarm systems.

Boundary expects to acquire certification in accordance with Grade 2 UK and European alarm testing standards by the end of the first quarter.

After acquiring the certificate, it will be clear that the alarm is reliable and tamper-proof while becoming the only smart alarm system to meet the UK and European alarm standards. The alarm is expected to become the only alarm in the UK to deliver an automatic police response.

The new alarm system is compatible with smart homes systems such as Google Homes and Alexa and also can be integrated with other systems as well. The system is designed to safeguard against known threats and is equipped with intelligent sensors that can detect false alarms.

The alarm is self-monitored and requires a smartphone for operating it and the owner will have full control over their sirens irrespective of the location.

Robin Knox, chief executive at Boundary, told the media, “2020 has been a year full of challenges, not least launching a highly-regulated consumer hardware product in the middle of pandemic induced supply chain problems. With home improvement still at the top of many people’s priorities, we’re optimistic for 2021 and are already looking forward to the launch of our second product which will leverage AI to proactively protect homes.”
