ByteDance launches new anti-fraud system to prevent fraudsters

Douyin has rolled out a campaign for companies that are using the group control software

ByteDance has rolled a new anti-fraud system that can identify fake accounts automatically, media reports said. The development comes at a time when the company has been tough towards the crackdown of fake traffic on its Chinese short video-sharing service Douyin. Furthermore, China’s regulators are also putting up efforts to eliminate fraudsters from the country’s major internet platforms.

Douyin representative Zhang Xisheng said that illegal businesses using new technologies have become more successful at targeting the platform rather than using traditional techniques. The fraud industries are developing their own techniques to carry out mischievous activities. Therefore, the company needs to upgrade its own system to counter those companies.

Douyin has rolled out a campaign for companies that are using the group control software. The technology tool has the potential to control hundreds of phones to track real user behaviour as followers and comments. Therefore, it can prevent the flow of fake traffic.

It is reported that many users are using software on the platform which can instantly provide them with fake followers, likes, and shares for short videos, as well as on live stream to ramp up viewer count.

However, ByteDance has managed to sue four companies that offered such software which can provide fake likes, followers and comments. Courts in places such as Hangzhou and Guangzhou have ordered some of these companies to stop operating.

It is reported that Douyin had more than 600 million daily active users and has been growing exponentially in China and other markets.
