WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, has launched a new feature that lets users link their accounts to an email address.
With this feature, users can authenticate themselves on WhatsApp using email verification instead of SMS. The feature was previously available only on the beta version of WhatsApp, but now it is available to all users.
The latest version of WhatsApp for iOS, version 23.24.70, which can be downloaded from the App Store, includes this feature. This option is useful for users who may not have cellular coverage and need to log in to their WhatsApp account.
To add an email address to your WhatsApp account, first go to the Your Profile page, then tap the Account menu, and finally select Email Address.
It’s important to note that the email address is only used for authentication purposes and is not visible to other WhatsApp users.
However, it’s worth mentioning that users still need a valid phone number to use the platform.
In addition to this, WhatsApp is introducing a new feature called voice chat, which allows users to connect with large groups without causing too much disruption.
With voice chat, you can speak live with members of a group chat while also being able to message in the group.
A few months back, WhatsApp hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. An entity called ‘Pink WhatsApp’ was making the rounds.
While Millennials and Gen Z would think that ‘Pink WhatsApp’ is the new feature launched by the popular messaging service, the reality is that the ‘feature’ we are talking about is a fraudulent one, created with the aim of conning its users.
Once installed, this application will gain access to the smartphone’s data, apart from getting hold of the device owner’s confidential data like bank details, photographs and passwords.
