Saudi Vision 2030: All you need to know about Riyadh Metro

The fact that the Riyadh-based centre is the first to receive official accreditation to carry out and administer public opinion surveys in the Kingdom is noteworthy

According to a survey conducted by the National Centre for Public Opinion Polls (Rai), about 60% of Riyadh residents would take public transportation and the metro to get to work or school.

Around 71% of respondents think the metro will alter their commuter routines, and 80% think it will help draw in more foreign investment to Riyadh.

The survey revealed that 83% of respondents think the metro will benefit the environment, and 81% think it will lessen traffic congestion.

When asked where they plan to travel by metro, 30% of respondents stated that they would like to visit entertainment venues, 24% stated that they would go shopping on metro trains, and 15% stated that they would use the metro to visit family and friends.

The survey also revealed the metro’s top priorities for Riyadh residents. Approximately 40% of survey respondents believe that a station ought to be located near their place of employment or residence, while 27% express concern about its speed, 22% discuss safety, and 11% discuss preventing harassment.

A general survey of Riyadh residents’ perceptions of the metro was carried out by the National Centre for Public Opinion Polls, a division of the King Abdulaziz Centre for National Dialogue. Men made up 57% of the 1,202 survey respondents, with women making up the remaining 43%.

The fact that the Riyadh-based centre is the first to receive official accreditation to carry out and administer public opinion surveys in the Kingdom is noteworthy.

According to a scientific methodology in line with global standards, it seeks to assist government agencies in making decisions based on objective and reliable data. The centre seeks to foster a culture of discussion on a range of important topics in society.

Meanwhile, Ethiopia has signed the Final Act of the Riyadh Design Law Treaty (DLT), a historic pact ratified by World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) member states, according to confirmation by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MInT).
