Logout screen bug haunts WhatsApp users

There were even reports about Android users not being able to find their old WhatsApp messages after updating to the app’s latest beta version

According to the WABetaInfo, a portal that tracks WhatsApp-related updates, the messaging app is now working to fix a bug on its logout screen feature.

Recently, WhatsApp users on Android got logged out of the messaging app, with a message stating that their phone numbers were no longer registered with the platform. There is no data as of now on exactly how many people have been affected by the glitch.

There were even reports about Android users not being able to find their old WhatsApp messages after updating to the app’s latest beta version. In the beta version, the users can add emojis while messaging their friends/colleagues.

While many people use secondary devices such as tablets and personal computers (in the case of WhatsApp Web) to access the messaging app, while manually logging out, the standard practice has always been to go to WhatsApp Settings first, then click on the Account option and then press the Log Out tab. In case you get logged out from the secondary device due to technical glitches, you can click on the “Continue” button to access your WhatsApp on your tablets/PCs again.

In case the user is changing his/her contact number, the person can be logged out from the messaging app as well, until the new number is getting updated on the user account details. For this, the person will have to get the process done by clicking the ‘Change Number’ option under the ‘Account’ field.

What WhatsApp is doing, as part of its latest experimentation, is developing a specialized logout screen feature for its beta version. The new feature will also provide a ‘Continue’ option at the bottom of the dialogue box which says that the user has been logged out. Clicking the ‘Continue’ option means those using the beta version, can log back into their secondary devices again.
