Nigeria grappling with insecurity & unemployment like other nations: Governor Bala Mohammed

Senator Bala Mohammed noted that his administration is making a concerted effort to address the issue and that there is a clear correlation between unemployment, hunger, and idleness

Nigeria is facing significant challenges in the areas of unemployment and insecurity, just like any other country in the world, according to Senator Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State.

The speaker was delivering a paper titled “Vocational Training and National Development; the Bauchi State Perspective” to the National Defence College, Abuja’s Course 33 students who were on a study tour in Bauchi State.

When he presented the paper, the governor made special mention of national development and technical and vocational training, claiming that these two areas are still the best ways to lower youth unemployment and restlessness.

Therefore, to address the various obstacles impeding development in vital areas of the nation, the governor promoted a multifaceted approach to leadership responsibilities.

Bala Mohammed added that his administration is making a concerted effort to address the issue and that there is a clear correlation between unemployment, hunger, and idleness.

“In order to empower youth to become self-employed and independent, the government has made sure that three of the approximately eighteen vocational training centres in the state are operating up to standard in each of the three senatorial districts,” he said.

He added that his administration has made significant investments in reviving the education sector and that, even in road projects, he made sure that local content was included to give host communities employment opportunities for long-term growth and development.

“To address the Multi-faceted challenges facing Nigeria, Institutions such as health, education, agriculture and other Critical Sectors of the economy must be strengthened to complement the efforts of both conventional and non-conventional security operatives to address the challenges,” Bala Mohammed noted, as he expressed gratitude to the National Defence College for organising the study tour, stating that it would undoubtedly improve Nigeria’s security efforts.

“My Administration is working with investors to establish a Cement Company in Alkaleri Local Government Area where Thousands of Youths will be engaged,” the Governor concluded.
